Liposome Delivery

Liposome Delivery

Liposome delivery systems were developed for serious medical procedures, but today theyre being used in the cosmetic field as well. In the case of treating cellulite, liposome delivery is an effective way to penetrating the epidermis, or outer skin layer, to get to the layer of fat cells underneath. Nearly everyone these days knows what cellulite is: lumpy deposits of fat underneath the skin that cause it to have an unattractive, dimpled appearance.

Liposome delivery is a controlled delivery system. This means that its a way of transporting the active ingredient to its intended targetin this case, the subcutaneous fat cellswith great accuracy, and with a minimum of waste. Thus, if a lotion with a liposome delivery system targeted for the fat layer is applied to the skin, it will delay release of the active ingredient until it reaches the fat layer.

Liposomes are physical structures that merely serve as capsules to contain and transport the intended active ingredients to their target site. The effect is much like swallowing a capsule containing medicine. The capsule doesnt expose your mouth to the medicine, but rather remains sealed until it reaches the stomach. Once there, the capsule dissolves and the medicine is then absorbed into your body.

This same process can now be applied to cosmetic creams. Liposome deliverys controlled process renders better penetration of the product and more effectiveness over a longer period of time. In other words, it enables you to accomplish more with less, saving you money, time and effort. Liposome delivery is also nontoxic and biodegradable, which is good news not just for your body, but also for the environment.
